The Innovation AgendaThe Innovation Agenda TechNet is committed to advancing U.S. competitiveness and economic growth in a global economy. Our members have been leaders in forging state and federal policy climates that encourage entrepreneurship, job creation and economic growth through innovation. The TechNet Innovation Forum will feature the nation's leading visionaries and experts from the fields of high technology, academia and policy-making to identify private sector initiatives and public policies that will spur our nation's innovation-driven global competitiveness into the next decade. The result will be an Innovation Agenda of specific federal and state legislative proposals to be implemented in 2005-2006. We are also privileged to partner and work with other leading organizations that have had a longstanding commitment to furthering U.S. competitiveness. The following studies examine California's innovation climate: A study completed in March 2004 by the Milken Institute, ranks California highly in technology, based on support for research, availability of risk capital, investment in human capital, etc. while warning that budget pressures could erode the state's position. The California Healthcare Institute has published Biomedical Manufacturing in California 2004, which details California's high costs and the state's position in tax and other incentives relative to other states.
