2004 TechNet New England Innovation Forum: Creating to CompeteWednesday, October 13, 2004 TechNet New England, in conjunction with CNET News.com and the MIT Deshpande Center for Technological Innovation, held the TechNet New England Innovation Forum on October 13, 2004 in Cambridge, Massachusetts with leading academics, policy makers, and senior industry executives. The TechNet New England Innovation Forum explored how innovation is driving economic growth and competitiveness in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and across the nation, and explored key public policies that will determine whether and how we reach our innovation potential. Participants included: Ranch Kimball, Massachusetts Secretary of Economic Development; Jeff Taylor, Founder & Chief Monster, Monster.com; Art Coviello, President and CEO, RSA Security; Dr. David Clark, MIT Research Scientist and a leading developer of the Internet; Greg Schmergel, President and CEO, Nantero; William Guenther, President and Founder, Mass Insight, Steve Kaufman, President & CEO, Avici Systems, and Donna Lencki, Chairman & CEO of Choicelinx. The recommendations presented at the TechNet New England 2004 Innovation Forum will be used to develop a 10-point action plan for New England with specific policy recommendations in the areas of broadband, education, cyber security, and investment in research and development. TechNet also will develop a National Innovation Agenda of specific federal and state legislative proposals to be implemented in 2005-2006 based upon the insights presented at the New England Innovation Forum and subsequent events in TechNet's National Innovation Initiative as well as the work of organizations such as the Council on Competitiveness. |
