Comprised of top technology CEOs in the country, the mission of the Task Force is to promote awareness and best practices in cyber security and support public-private initiatives aimed at protecting America's information infrastructure.Task Force Creates Evaluation--Sets Challenge Date of December 31, 2004The Task Force decided to drive a key initiative--one that challenges CEOs nationwide to assess and improve their information security programs by December 31, 2004. In doing so, the Task Force has developed the TechNet Corporate Information Security Evaluation for CEOs. This evaluation will help CEOs determine whether their company has implemented known best practices, indicate areas of weakness, and, eventually, give them an opportunity to compare their level of preparedness to others in their industry.A Complete Cyber Security Toolkit for CEOsBecause 90% of the nation's information infrastructure belongs to the private sector, it is important to our national security that every company reach a baseline of information security.TechNet has collaborated and partnered with three important industry associations--the Information Technology Association of America, the Business Software Alliance, and the Internet Security Alliance--to develop complementary programs to help the private sector improve America's security posture. The components include: TechNet's Corporate Information Security Evaluation for CEOs The Information Technology Association of America's IACERT program--an online assessment that measures each individual employee's familiarity with corporate information security policies and information security hygiene practices, and reports the results back to senior management. The Business Software Alliance's Corporate Governance Framework--a recent publication that outlines the roles and responsibilities of everyone in the corporation in terms of information security. TechNet's evaluation tests for the corporate governance principles developed by BSA. The Internet Security Alliance's Common Sense Guide for Senior Managers: Top Ten Recommended Security Practices, the original basis for our evaluation.
